2007 DURELL CHARDONNAY

Scored 93 from Wine Spectator

The 2007 Chardonnay is our third vintage. It shares many of the qualities that made the 2006 Chardonnay great. It is beautifully-balanced and layered. This wine will be tough for us to top.

“The 2007 starts off with a full, creamy texture on the palette
and an aroma of honeysuckle, pear and golden delicious apple
with a hint of hazelnut. On the palate, we find stone fruit,
honeydew melon, pineapple and tropical notes complimented
by flavors of honey and vanilla leading to a smooth, slightly
mineral finish. It is beautifully balanced and layered.”

“We are now releasing the 2006 Chardonnay, our second vintage. It is as good as the 2005. Don Van Staaveren compared the two perfectly, 'both vintages show a strong family tradition of complex, creamy, tropical and stone fruit, with a broad palate of juicy, golden apple and a lush, lively, full-bodied finish. The '06 carries a bit more weight and concentration with the same bright finish.”

2006 PINOT BLANC

This is our first offering of Pinot Blanc. It's crisp, refreshing and has a very balanced approach.

“Pinot Blanc is rarely made in the U.S., it is best known from the Alsace region of France. Our winemaker, Don Van Staaveren, found an exceptional vineyard and convinced me to make a very small amount. We have 240 bottles left so this is a very special and limited release. We will only be selling the Pinot Blanc in allocations of three bottles and only to our allocation list.”

2005 DURELL CHARDONNAY

The 2005 Durell Chardonnay is frankly a superb wine which is drinking beautifully right now.

“I have tasted it blind against the 2005 Durell from Chasseur, Kistler, Flowers and Patz & Hall and I believe it is a better wine than all of them. While there may be a fair bit of beginners luck involved, we will take the results. The wine has excellent balance, good complex fruit and of course the distinctive Durell terroir on the finish. If you like Burgundian style, you will love this wine.”

2005 DURELL PINOT NOIR

It is a more elegant pinot than the 2004, with softer tannins, nice red ‘Carneros’ fruit and a very French Burgundy style finish.

“The 2005 Pinot Noir reminds me a bit of the first pinot I made in 2002. It is a more elegant pinot than the 2004, with softer tannins, nice red ‘Carneros’ fruit and a very French Burgundy style finish. It should go beautifully with classic pinot friendly dishes like salmon or duck confit. Released on its third birthday, it is drinking well and does not need further aging to be enjoyed.”

2004 DURELL PINOT NOIR

The 2004 Durell Vineyards Pinot Noir is a full-flavored, well-structured wine which is very food friendly.

“The final blend for this exceptional wine is all Durell fruit and is beautifully balanced: an absolutely classic Sonoma Coast Pinot. There is an extremely limited amount, only available online.”

2003 DURELL PINOT NOIR

The second offering of our Pinot Noir grew from the success of our very first vintage in 2002.

“Our 2003 Pinot Noir from Durell Vineyard is another example of how minimalist winemaking techniques coupled with the experience of Vineyard Manager Steve Hill, can come together to craft a wine that has a true sense of place. This wine has smooth tannins and enough structure to hold up to a variety of entrees.”

2002 DURELL PINOT NOIR

We started Three Sticks with the mission of producing world class Pinot Noir and we are thrilled with the results of our first vintage.

“We hold the very first vintage at Three Sticks close to our heart. This wine offers a sophisticated flavor profile featuring Ranier cherries and strawberries mixed in with subtle hints of vanilla. The mouth feel features silky tannins, balanced acidity, and a lingering finish.”
